Mongolian Beef Sauce Recipe

– 1/2 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred) – 1/2 cup water – 1/2 cup brown sugar – 3 garlic cloves, minced – 1 tbsp ginger, minced – 1 tbsp cornstarch – 2 tbsp water (for cornstarch slurry)

Step 1 

In a bowl, combine soy sauce, 1/2 cup water, and brown sugar. Stir until sugar dissolves.

Heat a pan over medium heat and add the minced garlic and ginger. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Pour the soy sauce mixture into the pan and bring it to a simmer.

In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water to make a slurry.

Slowly add the cornstarch slurry to the simmering sauce, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.

– Continue cooking until the sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes. –

1. Remove from heat and pour the sauce over cooked beef or use it as a stir-fry sauce.
